As a Licensed Addiction Counselor with the Missouri River Correctional Center, you will work with a multi-disciplinary team to conduct assessments and referrals, facilitate evidence-based programming and individual counseling, provide case management, crisis intervention, and group therapeutic counseling services to individuals, families, and clients. These services include the assessment and treatment of complex cases such as mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders.

Duties and Tasks

Minimum Qualifications

Addiction Counselor I - Requires a bachelor's degree in Addiction Counseling, Addiction Studies, Social Work, Counseling or Psychology, AND current licensure as an Addiction Counselor by the North Dakota Board of Addiction Counseling Examiners. Starting Salary: $6,067Addiction Counselor II - Requires a bachelor's degree in Addiction Counseling, Addiction Studies, Social Work, Counseling or Psychology, Licensure as an Addiction Counselor (LAC) by the ND Board of Addition Counseling Examiners, and two years of experience as a Licensed Addiction Counselor. A master's degree in one of the majors listed above will substitute for one year of experience. Work at this level involves a variety of complex office support duties of a clerical and/or secretarial nature that includes completion of several steps; analysis of data to identify facts and required action; and decision-making based upon well-defined rules, regulations, methods, and procedures with limited deviation as the duties are repeated. Minimum Qualifications

Requires a high school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma and two years of office support, clerical, or secretarial work experience. Coursework in a vocational office support or closely related program may substitute for the work experience requirement on a year-for-year basis if it provided the knowledge and skills required to perform the duties of the position to be filled. The successful candidate will need to be able to lift, push, and move up to 40 pounds. Preference will be given to individuals with experience in Microsoft Office products.

The individual will work as a team member in an infirmary/clinic setting and within the Medical and Psychiatric Service Program under the supervision of a registered nurse. The position requires a holistic approach to health care service with emphasis on health maintenance through patient education and positive self-initiative. Specific duties include but are not limited to: provision of health care nursing to the resident population; dispensing medication; emergency nursing care; participation in behavioral management procedures and infection control; thorough documentation of patient care and medical records; and individual, group and wellness education. Shifts will rotate approximately two weeks of 6a-2p and 2p-10p.

Student Requirements

Must be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university in the United States, andMust be a current full-time student, as defined by that school, in the semester or quarter in which he/she applies for internship, andMust be able to receive academic credit for the internship, andMust be at least of sophomore standing by the beginning of the internship andMust have a cumulative Grade Point Average of at least 2.0 on a 4.0 scale.

Work involves providing case management services for juvenile offenders under the jurisdiction of the Division of Juvenile Services.

Duties and Tasks

Develop and maintain professional working relationships with the courts, social service agencies, human service centers, and other relevant agencies within the community. Compile and analyze information to assess the needs of youth. Develop, implement, and monitor individual treatment programs. Arrange, facilitate, and monitor placements. Provide community-based correctional services to youth through Community Placement Agreements and the Treatment and Rehabilitation Plan. Provide follow-up to emergency services to youth and family; provide appropriate follow-up if necessary. Assess need for individual, family, and group counseling referrals and coordinate with service providers. Testify in court advocating in the best interest of the youth and work with concerned parties during the hearing process. Prepare documents and maintain files to complete case documentation required by the central office, court, county social services, and other agencies involved in the youth program. Complete time logs as part of targeted case management. Function as a community liaison for the Division of Juvenile Services. Provide crisis intervention and emergency services to youth and family.

Minimum Qualifications

Juvenile Corrections Specialists require a Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, Sociology, Criminal Justice, Juvenile Justice, or other closely related field and two years of work experience providing for the treatment and rehabilitation needs of delinquent adolescents. As Master's degree in one of the above fields may substitute for one year of the work experience requirement. Preference will be given to applicants with juvenile case management experience.
