Dial-A-Ride / Para Transit
This service provides door-to-door accessible transport. Dial-A-Ride is an advance reservation transportation service for persons with disabilities and seniors. Eligible persons may schedule a ride by contacting the transit provider. The required notice is usually 24 hours in advance, though some agencies will accept same-day reservations.
Demand Response
Anyone can call for a ride from their local transit. Curb-to-destination service is the most common. Simply contact your local transit provider and check for regular service days. When you want a ride, call ahead and reserve a seat.
- For in-county or local service, contact your provider to learn the hours.
- Town-to-town and service to regional hubs provide a means for residents of rural areas to travel to larger towns or hubs. This service helps members of the public access goods or services not available in their hometowns. Using this service, travelers can enjoy shopping, medical services, restaurants or entertainment without the cost of using their own vehicle or worrying about city traffic.
- We also offer Medical Rides, which are regularly scheduled transportation between rural areas and medical facilities. Members of the public utilize this service to travel for medical appointments, dialysis or chemotherapy. Depending on the location, the service may be formally structured or provided on an as-needed basis.
Intercity
A fixed route schedule to and from major North Dakota population centers is provided by Jefferson Lines, Souris Basin Transportation and Standing Rock Public Transit. Passengers can connect to local transit for the final leg of their journey to rural areas of the state.
Veteran Transportation
Through the Highly Rural Transportation Grant (HRTG), the North Dakota Department of Veterans Affairs (NDDVA) provides free transportation for veterans to VA-authorized medical appointments. For more information on this program, visit the Veterans Affairs website.
