Geotechnical Drill Crew Intern - This internship will provide quality experience with highway materials testing, geotechnical exploration, and field data collection. This internship will provide field experience in geotechnical engineering and exploration. This is a field position that will require out of town travel and overnights. Safety and personal protective equipment along with travel expense reimbursement will be covered by the agency. The role includes collecting preliminary survey data from aerial imagery using a stereo soft-copy workstation and performing various photogrammetric operations such as stereo compilation, image creation and manipulation, analytical triangulation, and ortho-rectified mosaic production. Stereo vision acuity is a requirement for this responsibility. UAS operations involve implementing mission planning to ensure project scope is met efficiently, utilizing UAVs and sensor payloads to collect field data for preliminary surveys, and processing GNSS and IMU data to create accurate trajectories. The role also includes post-processing raw data to produce quality LiDAR point cloud files, as well as creating and maintaining related documents and manuals.This role involves up to date training to develop and refine accuracy and efficiency while maintaining documentation that outlines the procedures for creating preliminary survey production files for NDDOT projects.
