The NDDOT Bismarck District is bringing improvements to the following areas this season:
State Street from I-94 to Calgary Avenue
Project: Crews are finalizing ADA ramps and sidewalks, shaping ditches, and laying grass seed to complete work done over the 2023 construction season.
Status: Complete.
7th Street from Bismarck Expressway to Front Avenue
Project: Work includes road resurfacing, sidewalk ramp improvements, partial curb and gutter enhancements, and street lighting updates.
Traffic Impact: Lanes reduced from four to two Read more.
7th & 9th Streets from Main Avenue to Boulevard Avenue
Project: Work includes road resurfacing, sidewalk ramp improvements, partial curb and gutter enhancements, and street lighting updates.
Traffic Impact: Lanes reduced from four to two on 9th Street starting Friday, May 31. Parking will be prohibited on 9th Street between Main Avenue and Boulevard Avenue.
Grant Marsh Bridge & East Bismarck Interchange
Project: Contractors are making repairs and improvements to structural steel beneath the bridge, concrete on the bridge deck, guardrails, approach slabs, and lighting.
Traffic Impact: Traffic will be head-to-head single lane in both directions throughout the summer. The Bismarck Expressway on-ramp for I-94 Eastbound traffic will be closed for the length of the project. A detour is place at Exit 153. Read more.
Intersection of ND 24 & BIA 31 Fort Yates

Centennial Road/Bismarck Expressway & Exit 161 Interchange
Project: This multi-year project will include a new bridge and interchange at Exit 161.
Traffic Impact: Beginning June 11, Northbound Centennial Road/Bismarck Expressway will be reduced to one lane from Miriam Avenue to Trenton Drive. Speeds in both directions of Centennial Road/Bismarck Expressway will be reduced. The I-94 westbound shoulder and off-ramp at Exit 161 will be reduced in width. Read more.
