Career Description
The Account and Budget Specialist in our Financial Management Division is responsible for analyzing and preparing the monthly budget status by major program area, provide budget liaison duties and prepare budget adjustments; You will also provide department training on the Account Code System.Other Job Duties include:Assist with the preparation of the DOT biennial budget. Input the required data into the Budget Development and Tracking System (BDTS).Analyze and interpret revenue and expenditure data to determine trends.Monitor the submission of statistical information in compliance with Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) reporting guidelines.Prepare reports and respond to inquiries and special requests.Supervise section staff.
Minimum Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need to be able to work in a fast-paced environment with the ability to manage multiple requests at one time. Excellent communication skills, experience with preparing worksheets, preparing fiscal statistics, reviewing expenditures and problem-solving are preferred.To be considered for this position, you must have a bachelor's degree with a concentration in accounting and three years of professional accounting and/or auditing experience. Bachelor's degree with an accounting concentration or equivalent means: 24 semester credits or equivalent of accounting courses, plus 24 credits of other business courses. Principles of accounting or equivalent courses do not court toward the required accounting or business courses. The accounting portion may include classes with an accounting, audit, or tax specialty. The other-business portion may include classes with a specialty of business, management, finance, economics, or marketing. To be considered you must attach your transcript to your application. Employment of the selected candidate will be contingent on satisfactorily completing the interview process, criminal history check, and a verifiable record of satisfactory performance in previous employment.
