About The Project

The U.S. Highway 2 Reconstruction Project is a critical infrastructure improvement initiative in Williston, ND, aimed at enhancing traffic flow, safety, and access to the Williston Square development. This project, commissioned by the North Dakota Department of Transportation and the City of Williston, is part of ongoing efforts to support the city's growth and modernization. Reede Construction, Inc., a leading firm in roadway construction and concrete paving, has been awarded the contract to carry out the work.

Estimated Project Cost & Completion

  • Total Estimated Cost: $23,645,879.55
  • Construction Start Date: March 17, 2025 (initial demolition), April 2025 (roadway impacts begin)
  • Substantial Completion Date: October 25, 2025 (roadway operational)
  • Final Completion Date: June 30, 2026 (permanent striping and finishing work)

Areas of Traffic Impact

To accommodate construction activities, temporary lane reductions and detours will be implemented. Traffic disruptions will primarily affect:

  • US Highway 2 – From 9th Avenue West to north of 35th Street
  • Key intersections along the corridor will experience temporary closures and rerouting.
  • Alternate routes and detours will be clearly marked for commuters and truck traffic.
  • Access accommodations will be in place for businesses, emergency services, and local residents.
