Question 7

How shall the required excavation of the existing embankment (prior to installation of the AGGREGATE BASE COURSE CL 5) for the temporary crossovers be paid for on PCN-22605? Please clarify.

The intent is to remove the existing topsoil prior to placing the aggregate base for the crossover at STA 2843+95.59 to 2848+48.44 with the cost included in the “Topsoil” bid item.

Question 5

Plan Note 202-P01 for PCN-22605 directs the Contractor to return "the median to the condition, cross section, and profile existing before the start of the project...". The existing typical section for STA 2855+00 to STA 2860+00 on section 30 sheet 2 shows that there is currently 4" of bituminous pavement. Should the Contractor include the cost to replace or restor this pavement in the bid price for REMOVAL OF TEMPORARY BYPASS?

DOT Response

The intent is for the existing 4” Hot Mix Asphalt to remain in place with the aggregate and Commercial Grade Hot Mix Asphalt placed over the top of it for the crossover use. Then to remove the aggregate and Commercial Grade HMA when the crossover is no longer needed.
