In reference to question 10: the alternative material that is commercially available is pressure treated lumber in lieu of cedar. If a reddish brown color is desired, the product can be manufactured with a colored dye added. Please see the attached information regarding the dye.

The specified material in dimensions called out for the components of the bid item "Wood Fence" are unable to be sourced commercially as drawn. Please consider an alternate material or revised design to accommodate components that are readily available.

Section 85-12 landscape schedule has very specific planting mixes for each area with the total quantity of each species to be planted and spacing. The notes state that a plan for replanting must be submitted and approved by DOT prior to any disturbance with photography to ensure area is returned to pre-disturbed vegetation. Are we bidding to the planting mixes provided or to a plan that DOT needs to approve after the letting?

Is 1600 Day the correct quantity for the railroad flagging? Per SP 335(24) Railroad Requirements, on page 123 of 184, the approximate daily rate for 1 flagger being $1200-$2000/day.

The 1600 is the anticipated price per day for railroad flagging. Multiply the $1600/day by the number of anticipated days where RR flagging would be needed. See page 3 of 4 in the RAILROAD REQUIREMENTS BNSF SP for additional explanation.”

For the 3" service pipe, is that allowed to be SDR21 CL200 PVC? They do not make 3" SIDR7.

Regarding the black vinyl coated chain link fence shown on sheet 7 of section 20: which method of installation is to be used? Surface mounted to the concrete pavement or posts set in concrete alongside the concrete pavement? If it is the latter, will the posts be set prior to installation of the concrete pavement?

Would NDDOT allow scrapers crossing the two live lanes of traffic with the use of flaggers?

DOT Response

Yes, material is allowed to be scraper hauled across Chateau Road within the grading limits and roadway reconstruction areas. If scrapers are used to haul material across Chateau Road, protect the roadway in accordance with Sec 203.02 EQUIPMENT of the standard specifications. Restrictions that are identified in note 105-P01 WORKING HOURS and 105-P02 ORDER OF OPERATIONS may also restrict times and days when the earthen ramp and flaggers required for scraper hauled material across Chateau Road may not be allowed. Scrapers are not allowed to use the waste site haul roads. No material will be scraper hauled to either of the mandatory waste sites as described in Note 203-P03 COMMON EXCAVATION-WASTE.

Does the existing concrete roadway have reinforcing steel in it? If so, is it longitudinal bars or a mesh pattern?

The geotechnical consultant advanced borings SW-03 through SW-15 through the concrete pavement. Reinforcing steel was not encountered in any of these borings.

For the type 770-P03 and type 770-P04, can we match the material supplied on NDDOT 23114 Pacific Ave?

Yes, the lighting should match the lighting that will be installed as part of the adjacent Medora - Pacific Avenue project 5-094(152)900 - PCN 23114 that was bid 9/6/24.
