Bracket battles aren’t just for basketball — they're hitting the highways! NDDOT and our friends (rivals?) to the south, SDDOT, are warming up for the Battle of the Blades, a bracket-style competition where snowplow names go head-to-head, and fans decide the champion.

Starting Saturday, March 21, the snowplow names from both states will compete in a full-court press for glory. Will North Dakota’s fleet drive to the championship, or will South Dakota bring the heat? The power is in your hands!

How to Play:

  • Download and fill out a bracket at dot.nd.gov, predicting which snowplow name will take the title. AND
  • Cast your vote here each week. Voting will be open during the two days each week when NCAA men’s basketball games occur. (You can also vote for South Dakota’s side of the bracket at dot.sd.gov)
  • Follow along as names are eliminated and the ultimate snowplow champion is crowned after the championship game! Results will be posted April 8.

First voting form will be posted on Saturday, March 21, 2026

  • Thaw-tful 32 Round - Vote March 21-22
  • Snowy Sixteen Round - Vote March 26-27
  • Abominable Eight Round - Vote March 28-29
  • Frosty Four Round - Vote April 2-4
  • Championship - Vote April 5-6
