Question 5

On addendum 2, the obliteration of pavement marking increased for site 2. Is the new quantity the lineal footage of 4" pavement markings to be removed? It looks like the new quantity was not converted into SF like the bid item should be. Also, there is not 704 bid item for the flashing beacon needed at site 2 but there is a 772 bid item for flashing beacon post mounted.

DOT Response

Addressed with Addendum.

Question 4

On plan sheet 1 in section 51 "allowable pipe list", is there a reason for the vast difference between the 2 stations of 18" pipe? The first line allows 2-2/3"x1/2" corrugation 16ga pipe, than the next line same diameter pipe if 2-2/3"x1/2" corrugation it has to be 12ga? Question 3

For Site 2, may the lane closure/median crossover exterior signage prior to the closures be post mounted once at the max spacing needed prior to the work zone and utilized throughout the entire project or will the contractor have to move post mounted signage per the standards and sheets 100-4-100-5? This was allowed on PCN 22613, Pembina County in 2023 and helped to reduce the amount of time staking and the contractors being on the roadway moving signage.

DOT Response

The WZTC signs from D-704-35 are similar to the sign layouts shown in Sec 100 Sheets 4 &5. If the Field Engineer stakes the layout with the largest sign spacing, the signs can remain in place to accommodate all five phases of construction. The signs can be post mounted for the duration of the project and should not need to be moved or require portable sign supports.

Question 2

1. Can the double line of 6x3 boxes for Sta. 0+61.95 be manufactured as a single cell 12x3 box culvert? 2. Can the double cell 10'x6' box culverts at Sta. 7823+61.55 be manufactured as 4 - single cell 10x6 box culverts?

DOT Response

For question 1 we would allow a single 12x3 box culvert as long as it still meets HL-93 load requirements. For Question 2, we will allow single cells (as well as the current double cells shown) and will prepare an addendum to address it.
