The NDSTREET Program provides an opportunity for cities with less than 5,000 population, that have a state highway within their corporate boundaries, to improve that roadway. Improvements are intended to improve or add multimodal transportation facilities through that community.

The amount of funding a project receives will be determined from the cost estimate included with the project application. NDSTREET will participate in the environmental process, preliminary and construction engineering, design, right-of-way, utility relocation, and construction. This program will participate in all Title 23 CFR eligible activities up to the approved allocation. The NDDOT will determine either to complete activities with internal staff or will hire a qualified consultant following the procedures outlined in the CAS Manual.
NDSTREET funds are limited to expenditures on the state highway system. All cost overruns or ineligible costs will be the responsibility of the LPA. The NDSTREET Program funding split is as follows:
Funding Source | Federal Funds | State Funds | Local Funds (LPA) |
---|---|---|---|
Percentage | 80.93% | 9.07% | 10.00% |
The LPA matching funds must be from a non-federal source. Maximum funding is set at $2,000,000 for a single project under the NDSTREET Program in a single year.
The NDDOT will distribute these funds through an advisory committee comprised of five members. This 5 member group consists of representatives from:
Projects are selected on a competitive basis. The advisory committee will review the applications submitted and prioritize the projects to be submitted to the Director for funding.
