The ND Highway 20 Underpass in Devils Lake will be periodically closed this
week in order to place the new bridge girders. Hwy 20 will be closed from Hwy
19 north to 6th St. NE. signs and detour route will be clearly
marked. Additional closures will be needed the following week, an update will
be sent when the dates are finalized. Closures will consist of the following:
Closed April 27th to set phase 1 girders
Closed April 28th to set phase 2 girders
Open April 29th
Traffic and Pedestrian restrictions
will consist of:
- ND Highway 20 will be closed from ND Highway 19 to 6th Street NE while girders are being placed. Motorists should use detour route on 5th Avenue and 6th Street.
- Pedestrian traffic will be maintained. Pedestrians will be able to use east pathway, but are reminded that it will be flagged during placement of phase 1 and 2 girder sets. There may be substantial delays during phase 1 and 2 girders sets. Pedestrian are asked to pay attention to the changing conditions and follow the signage and flagging controls.

Underpass Project has many phases that will require numerous changes to traffic
and pedestrian flow patterns. Motorists should reduce speeds, follow signs and
know that traffic control will frequently change throughout the duration of the
information about construction projects and road conditions throughout North
