Flaggers will be present to control traffic near the ND Highway 20 Underpass project in Devils Lake on July 18 as work continues on the project. Crews are focusing on the bridge deck. Flagging will consist of two flaggers, one controlling traffic at Hwy 20 and 6th St. NE and the other controlling traffic at Hwy 20 and Hwy 19. They will work together to control the north and south bound traffic through one lane of Hwy 20.
Traffic and Pedestrian restrictions will consist of:
- ND Highway 20 will be reduced to one lane from ND Highway 19 to 6th Street NE while a temporary railroad bridge is constructed
- A width restriction of 12 feet will be in place
- Speeds reduced to 25 mph
- Some work will occur at night
- Pedestrian traffic will be closed on the east side of Hwy 20 from 6th St. NW to 3rd St. NW. Pedestrians will be detoured to the west side of Hwy 20.
The Devils Lake Underpass Project has many phases that will require numerous changes to traffic and pedestrian flow patterns. Motorists should reduce speeds, follow signs and know that traffic control will frequently change throughout the duration of the project.
