Traffic safety partners are seeking teen drivers to attend a free, one-day Ford Driving Skills for Life (DSFL) safety event in Grand Forks on Wednesday, June 28 at Gambucci Arena. The deadline to register for this traffic safety event is Friday, June 16.
There will be two sessions available to attend from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. or 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and is limited to 100 teens. The Alive at 25 course, sponsored by State Farm Insurance, will also be available for 50 teens who are interested in becoming better drivers. This is an interactive classroom course designed to reduce the likelihood of young drivers ending up in a motor vehicle crash.
The Ford DSFL program allows participants to get involved in a variety of traffic safety activities. Teens will have the opportunity to drive through a challenging course with various obstacles, visually see how a vehicle can disappear in a truck’s blind spots and experience simulators that focus on impaired driving, distracted driving and the importance of wearing your seat belt.
Vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death for teens in America. In 2016 in North Dakota, one teen driver crash occurred every three hours. With these statistics, it is important to continually educate teen drivers and provide them with opportunities to enhance their driving skills.
To confirm your registration, you will receive an email from the North Dakota Department of Transportation prior to the event. Snacks and beverages will be provided and parents are highly encouraged to attend.
