Starting May 30, All Traffic through I-94 Bis-Man Project Corridor to Be Shifted to Passing Lanes, Westbound Lane Reductions to Extend Past Exit 161

BISMARCK, N.D. – Starting on Tuesday, May 30, all traffic, east- and westbound, through the I-94 Bis-Man Project corridor will be shifted to the passing (left) lanes. In addition, the lane closure for westbound traffic will be extended to just east of Exit 161 (Bismarck Expressway). The current westbound lane reduction is from the Grant Marsh Bridge to Exit 159 (Hwy 83 / State Street). This change will extend the lane closure an additional two miles as work progresses on the project.

Construction work on I-94 is currently taking place from the Grant Marsh Bridge in Mandan to Exit 161 (Bismarck Expressway) in Bismarck.

During construction:

  • I-94 will continue to be open to east and westbound traffic throughout the construction project, utilizing a combination of lane closures and head-to-head traffic.
  • Twelve-foot width restrictions remain in place
  • Speeds are reduced to 45 mph. Speeds may be reduced even further at times throughout the construction zone.

Construction work is expected to be completed in late fall.

Regular updates on construction progress will be provided to the public throughout the construction project.
