BISMARCK, N.D. – Road construction work on I-94 through Bismarck to Mandan will start in late April or May. The five-mile-long project will begin west of the Grant Marsh Bridge and continue east of Exit 161 (Bismarck Expressway). Work will consist of concrete pavement repair, asphalt overlays and bridge work.
The North Dakota Department of Transportation (NDDOT) wants the public to be aware as early as possible of the I-94 construction project through Bismarck and encourages local motorists, which include businesses and commuters, to plan ahead during the upcoming construction season.
I-94 will be open to traffic at all times throughout this process, utilizing a combination of lane closures and head-to-head traffic. Width restrictions will be in place and the speed limit will be reduced to 45 mph or lower at times throughout the construction zone. Construction work is expected to be completed in late fall.
Regular updates on construction progress will be provided to the public throughout the construction project.
