Due to continued warm weather patterns, seasonal load restrictions may be implemented on some North Dakota state highways as early as next week. Areas that may possibly see the first load restrictions of the season include highways in southwest and southeast portions of North Dakota.
The North Dakota Department of Transportation (NDDOT) normally places load restrictions on some state highways from March to May, depending on weather conditions. However, load restrictions have been put into effect as early as mid-February. These restrictions typically remain in effect until roadbeds have stabilized enough to carry normal traffic.
