Traffic Safety
The vast majority of motor vehicle fatalities in North Dakota are the result of driver behavior including impaired driving, speed, distracted driving and lack of seat belt use. These are behaviors that can be changed through awareness, education and strict enforcement of traffic safety laws.
The goal of the North Dakota Department of Transportation Traffic Safety Office (TSO) is to reduce the deaths, serious injuries, and economic losses associated with motor vehicle crashes in the state. The TSO administers targeted behavioral modification programs to advance the safety and welfare of the traveling public.
