Seasonal Load Restrictions

Seasonal Load Restrictions

On March 24, 2020, the North Dakota Department of Transportation (NDDOT) temporarily lifted seasonal load restrictions on all state highways to minimize disruption of the supply chain during the COVID-19 public health emergency. See Load restriction press release . This change was made after Governor Doug Burgum enacted Executive Order 2020-11.

  • The Executive Order lifts seasonal load restrictions on all state highways and does not apply to city or county roads. We want motorists to be aware that this order applies only to seasonal load restrictions and all other federal and state laws still apply.
  • NDDOT has developed a daily inspection process to ensure our roadways are not damaged as a result of lifting seasonal load restrictions.
